At Butler Rescue Hands, our dedicated staff conducts comprehensive home safety inspections to ensure the well-being of your loved ones, in addition to providing a range of non-medical home care services. Below is a recommended safety checklist we use during our visits:

• Flooring and Rugs: Check for slanting floors and ensure throw rugs are securely fastened to prevent tripping hazards. Assess the condition of carpeting for wear and fraying.
• Clutter and Accessibility: Evaluate room clutter that may impede mobility and ensure clear pathways for easy navigation.
• Communication Access: Verify the availability and accessibility of phones (landline or cell phones) within easy reach in case of emergencies.
• Lighting: Ensure adequate lighting throughout the home to enhance visibility and safety, especially in dimly lit areas.
• Detectors and Alarms: Confirm the presence and functionality of carbon monoxide detectors and smoke alarms to safeguard against potential hazards.
• Bathroom Safety: Assess the placement and condition of guard rails near tubs, showers, and toilets for added stability and safety. Check for slip-resistant bathmats to prevent falls.
• Accessibility and Comfort: Verify that toilets are at a suitable height and water temperatures are comfortable and regulated to prevent scalding.
• Mobility and Furniture Arrangement: Ensure sufficient space for movement, both with and without mobility aids such as walkers or wheelchairs. Assess pathways and countertop areas for accessibility and unobstructed use.
• Secure Storage: Ensure cleaning products and other potentially hazardous items are stored securely to prevent accidental ingestion or misuse.
