Overview: As a Live-In 24-hour Caregiver, you will provide essential non-medical care and support to individuals who require around-the-clock assistance in their homes. This role requires living in the client’s residence for extended periods, typically on a rotational basis with scheduled time off. You will be responsible for ensuring the client’s safety, well-being, and comfort throughout your assigned shifts.
Responsibilities:
- Personal Care Assistance:
- Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility support.
- Assist with transfers, positioning, and using mobility aids as needed.
- Companionship and Emotional Support:
- Engage with the client in meaningful conversations and activities to promote mental alertness and emotional well-being.
- Offer companionship, social interaction, and encouragement to participate in activities of interest.
- Meal Preparation and Nutrition:
- Plan and prepare nutritious meals according to dietary preferences and restrictions.
- Assist with feeding and ensure adequate hydration throughout the day.
- Medication Reminders:
- Provide reminders and assistance with medication administration according to prescribed schedules.
- Maintain accurate records of medications taken and any observed effects.
- Household Management:
- Perform light housekeeping tasks, including cleaning, organizing, and maintaining a safe living environment.
- Manage laundry and ensure clothing and linens are clean and organized.
- Safety and Emergency Response:
- Monitor the client’s condition and report any changes or concerns promptly to designated family members or healthcare professionals.
- Be prepared to respond calmly and effectively in emergencies, following established protocols and procedures.
- Transportation and Errands:
- Accompany the client on outings, appointments, and recreational activities as needed.
- Assist with running errands, grocery shopping, and other tasks outside the home.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of daily activities, care provided, and observations of the client’s health status.
- Communicate effectively with family members, caregivers, and healthcare professionals to ensure continuity of care.
